Only Pets

I still watch the Birds for Sale category on Kijiji, just in case. (In case of what, I’m not really sure. The last thing I need is another bird.) Last night we went to Critter Jungle for dog food, and of course I stopped by the bird section to say hello. Two birds – a cockatiel and a parrotlet – showed a great deal of interest in me. They were curious and sociable, which are both excellent qualities in birds. But GC dragged me out of there before I could fall all the way in love with them.

I have five pets, which should be enough for me. (Some days it’s even more than enough.) And each of my five pets has four siblings, so they’re not all alone and lonely when I go out. Unlike these guys, who are Only Pets.

  • I feel bad for only pets. Your sheep are back, how’d you manage that?
I will miss the glasses though

  • I never felt bad for only pets until I saw these videos. Poor little guys, having to make up wives and stuff. As for the sheep, I threw caution to the wind and put them back up. I’m thinking it’s just temporary, until I can figure out what else to do. I missed my sheep. (The ones with the glasses were done by Shmutzie, and I didn’t want to subject her to any potential legal repercussions, so they’re not going back up.)

Speaking of animals, when did the Sheep make a reappearance in the header?

    I could swear they weren’t there a week ago…

I thought there was a copyright issue with the photo?

    • DW, you’re right, the sheep are not supposed to be there. I just got nostalgic one day, and decided to put them back up temporarily while I think about what to replace them with.

Cookie loved her time as an only pet. Bunny has been here since January and Cookie still occasionally reminds him that she did not invite him to be her housemate.

They mostly coexist and I am proud to say that Bunny does now refuse to allow her to bully him out of the prime air-conditioner nap location ( I think because, during naps, he only willingly moves to prevent bedsores)

    • I’m sure pets would rather be alone than forced to share their homes with other pets they don’t like. (And I’m sure there are lots of people who acquired pets with the intentions that they be friends with their existing pet, only to find that they don’t even like each other.)
