Formatting Matters

I got this email message from Citizenshift today . Let’s just say a poorly formatted message can convey a different message entirely.

NEW >> FEMICIDE: The Killing of Women and Girls
To Commemorate National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence
Against Women

  • So what are you getting at here…that CitizenShift is proudly announcing the killing of women and girls in honour of National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence against Women ?!

Oh pluhese…cant we have a little style or does the message have to be didactic?

Although i will concede that formatting certainly does count. (maybe we need to graduate to html formatting in those text based emails).

Anyway, thanks for referring to the site…i’m sure that anyone who visits will get the message that Femicide is no joke and it’s happening all around us…(including Ottawa by the way)!

  • C’mon Reisa, lighten up. It’s comments like yours that make people accuse us feminists of having no sense of humour.

  • hey, i’m light as a feather here… and was being sort of toungue in cheek sarcastic. And who says us feminists have no sense of humour? poo-poo to that – we have a laugh a minute over here! (although i have to admit that putting together that dossier on femicide was pretty heavy, and certainly left us all a bit depressed.)

    zoom-on sister !

  • Reisa, I’m glad you came back.

Do you remember that comic book cover of MS magazine about a hundred years ago?

He: Do you know the Women’s Movement has no sense of humour?

She: No, but hum a few bars and I’ll fake it.

    That cracked me up.
