Therese are a few digital Artist Trading Cards I’ve completed recently. Personally, I like the first one best.
Techno-Vintage Newsboy
Hummingbird
Techno-Vintage Bicycle Boy
Fading into Obscurity
Spectral Muse
The King & Queen
Meanwhile, I’m pleased to report that I’ve been getting my real paintbrushes wet and splashing a bit of colour around on some real canvases. I’ve also been working on […]

These were all created in Photoshop. I created the backgrounds using brushes and filters, and most of the foreground images are copies of daguerreotypes or other antique photographs, other bits and pieces, and some added graffiti.
(In case you’re wondering, the non-digital art continues to proceed in slow motion: I paint a line or glue […]

Here are some artist trading cards my computer and I have been churning out lately. They’re mostly digital collages, which I assemble and alter using Photoshop. Then I send them out into the world by snail mail, and I get really cool trading cards in return.
Black Bird Red Sky
The Thin Line (with apologies to […]

These are my Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) from the past couple of weeks. The more I use Photoshop, the more I like it. The feature I use the most is the Un-Do button. If only life were like that.
Plenty of fish:
Two of hearts (this one uses a scan of a daguerreotype):
The Owl Woman (this one […]

After six weeks of being intimidated by my new paint supplies, blank canvases, and utter lack of natural talent, I decided to paint something today. I re-read Nik’s comment about just doing it – just dive right in, splotch the paint all over the canvas and don’t worry about making mistakes. I also read the […]

The art thing is coming along, but I’m a very slow and hesitant artist.
I’m drawn to computer art because it’s in my comfort zone. You can try something and if you make a mistake or just don’t like the effect, you can hit “undo.” Real art, with paint and glue and materials and stuff, […]

This one morphed out of some emerging ideas about reflections and mirrors and the passing of time and how perception warps reality sufficiently enough that we should be vigilant about what we tell ourselves.
I’m thinking about doing some art to harmonize with Theodore Roetke’s poetry. Roethke was mentally ill. (What is it with poets […]

It’s a busy busy day, but since I was publicly described as a gifted artist today, I found a little time for art!

Here’s another Artist Trading Card – I made it tonight. It’s called My Precious Moments, in which Gollum meets the Precious Moments Figurine.
The becoming-an-artist thing is coming along well. I moved the computer room into the art studio and the art studio into the computer room, which gives the art studio more room and better […]

It’s kind of weird how, when you’re creating something, you can end up with something completely different than what you intended to create. Ideas are such mutants.
I no longer have any idea what this was originally intended to be. I’m not even sure what it IS exactly.
