We have our work cut out for us

GC and I both have our work cut out for us in November: I’m writing a book and he’s growing a mustache.

National Novel Writing Month (more affectionately known as Nanowrimo) requires participants to write a 50,000-word novel during the month of November.

This will be my third year participating. My first two novels were titled Inside-Out Pork Bellies and Tabula Rasa. However, I was unemployed those two Novembers, so I had a lot more free time. (I like working, but Holy Wow, it takes a great big fat bite out of each day!)

Given that I don’t have much time to write a novel, I’m planning to cheat. I’ve written approximately 1,500 blog posts, and I’m going to select and compile my one hundred best posts. I’ve been wanting to do this for awhile, and it’s a good, focused, manageable project for November. Plus I’ll get a single copy of the book published for free when it’s done!

If you’d like to suggest posts to be included in my Nanonwrimo compilation, just email me or let me know in the comments. (I’m also looking for advice on how to organize it. Do you think it should be organized chronologically, like the blog, or by topic? Or some other way?)

Now, about GC and Movember. If you’re not familiar with Movember, it’s all about getting your friends to sponsor your mustache-growing efforts, with all proceeds going to Prostate Cancer Canada.

Most guys just stop shaving on November 1st, and then start again on December 1st. But GC’s a different case. He had to get rid of his existing mustache in order to grow a fresh mustache for Movember. I’d never seen him without a mustache until yesterday. As you can see, his upper lip is totally hot.

Anyway. If you’d like to sponsor GC, here’s a link to his Movember page. Or, you can just go over there and watch his brand new ‘stash grow in. He’s going to be updating the site every day with pictures of its progress.
